Surrealism has always been a controversial tendency in the history of paintings. On the one hand, it's worshiped for its out-of-this-world look and delirious themes, easy to please. On the other hand, it also raises a legion of slanderers. The latter point out their lack of subtlety and rationality, outshined by its spectacular effects. For better or for worse, surrealist paintings seem to be making a comeback, through the hands of Russian artist Vladimir Kush who, inspired by Bosch, Magritte and DalĂ, creates paradoxal and fantastic images of detailed and realist look.
